Suited to children aged three years and up.

Why it lasts.

We carry this because the market bag format is just right. Children unpack it, set up their stall, take orders, and pack everything back up again. The vegetable selection leans toward variety, with shapes and colors that are distinct enough for children to sort and name. We love that it encourages children to explore vegetables in a low-pressure, playful way.

Details

Materials & construction

Each piece is crafted from 100% New Zealand wool felt, sourced from GOTS-certified farms. The wool is colored with azo-free, non-toxic dyes and verified under OEKO-TEX Standard 100. Every component, including structural threads and dyes, is cleared of over 100 harmful substances. The finished pieces contain no plastic, no batteries, and no synthetic fill.

These pieces are made in Kathmandu, Nepal, by a cooperative of over 350 women artisans, the majority of whom are mothers. Each is shaped through traditional needle-felting and wet-felting, without molds or machines. The cooperative holds Fair Trade USA certification, ensuring fair wages and safe working conditions. Your purchase directly supports the economic independence of the women who made it.

Ways to play

Unpack the market bag and set up a play grocery stall. Sort the vegetables by color, by type, or by whether they grow above or below the ground. Run a pretend greengrocer, take orders, and pack the bag back up between sessions. Pairs with the Felt Food Groups Play Food, Fruits set for a complete market spread.

Care & storage

Spot-clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not submerge or machine wash. Air dry flat. Store in the included cotton market bag between sessions.
