Accessibility
Built so everyone can shop.
My Toy Wagon is committed to making our website usable by every visitor, regardless of ability or device. If anything on our site is hard to use, tell us and we will fix it.
Our commitment.
We believe a small shop should be a welcoming one. We are committed to ensuring that mytoywagon.com is accessible to people with disabilities, in keeping with the spirit of the Americans with Disabilities Act and the principles of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.
This commitment is ongoing. As our site grows and changes, we keep accessibility in our thinking from the first sketch to the last line of code.
What we have done.
Our website is designed and tested with the following in mind:
- Keyboard navigation. All interactive elements can be reached and operated using only a keyboard.
- Screen reader support. We use semantic HTML, alt text on product images, and ARIA labels where helpful, so screen readers can describe what is on the page.
- Color and contrast. Our palette is built around warm cream and dark ink, tested to meet WCAG AA contrast ratios for body text.
- Scalable type. Text resizes cleanly up to 200 percent without breaking the layout. You can also use your browser's zoom controls without losing content.
- Captions and transcripts. Where we use video (for example our maker spotlight), we provide context in nearby text so the meaning is not lost if audio cannot be heard.
- No autoplay audio. Videos are muted by default and the only motion on the page is gentle, gradual, and respects your operating-system preference for reduced motion.
- Clear language. We write plainly. No marketing jargon, no buried details. If a product is back-ordered or sold out, we say so on the card.
Where we still have work to do.
We are honest about being early. Some areas we are still improving:
- Product photography that is currently styled-flat may not always describe every detail in alt text. We are slowly rewriting alt text across the catalog.
- Some third-party Shopify apps (reviews, currency switcher, gift-card widget) have their own interfaces. We are auditing each and replacing or configuring any that do not meet WCAG AA.
- Color-only meaning is being audited. Where a status is shown only in color (for example a green "in stock" pill), we are adding a redundant text label.
If you find anything on our site that is hard to use, please tell us. Your feedback is genuinely the fastest path to fixing it.
