Eighteen lengths of split bamboo and nothing telling a child what to do with them. Prop one on a rock and pour water down it. Join two and the water travels further. Angle them wrong and it spills, which is the lesson.

From two for pouring and splashing, and it keeps working for years as the builds get more ambitious.

Why it lasts.

We carry Q Toys at My Toy Wagon because they finish wood to be felt rather than sealed smooth, and because they make under a Fair Trade scheme in Vietnam with a zero-waste principle behind the material choices.

Who it's for

For the parent
It is an outdoor toy that survives being left out, and the play changes with whatever else is in the garden.
For the educator
A water and sensory staple for early learning centres, therapy rooms and natural play settings.
For the gift-giver
Open-ended and hard to outgrow, and it does not look like it came from a toy aisle.

Ways to play.

Build a pathway and pour water down it. Race balls or marbles. Send cars along the wider pieces. Take it to the sand and move sand instead. Prop it on rocks outdoors and work out why the water stops.

Pre k fave

I got my students this set to be used outside with water or cars or balls and I did not give them any rules or instructions and within a few minutes everyone was working together to build a river. Then started to roll balls and made little bridges over the top. Super toy for free play programs. Very smooth- no splinters. I hope they hold up a long time in our outdoor classroom.

Open ended play

I couldn’t decide between the smaller set (with support pieces for building the ramp) or the larger set initially. I decided I liked the wider option for a bigger variety of things to slide, and the open-ended option to be creative in how my grandkids would use these. Excited to see what they come up with. Definitely taking to the beach next trip.

I really like the width and length of the channels. We haven’t used it yet, but I see potential

Perfect for soon to be 2 year olds

Simple is sometimes better. The twins caught on immediately and were busy making a river with the help of the hose. So many possibilities!

Fun for All Ages

This toy is definitely one that can be used for many years to come! The ideas are endless- indoor/outdoor, water, ball, marbles, one piece/many pieces! My husband I were just as excited as our son!

Amazing Product!

I'd been looking for bamboo pieces to use to create a fun water play area for my son and these are perfect! Big, strong and really a huge set!

Details

Materials & construction

Natural treated bamboo, split and smoothed. Bamboo is a grass, not a timber, and regrows in a few years rather than a few decades.

Made in Vietnam under a Fair Trade scheme. Q Toys work to a zero-waste principle and also make from the industrial byproducts of coconut and lychee trees.

Age & safety

Safety

Tested to ASTM F963, the US toy safety standard. Recommended for ages 2 and up. Water play should always be supervised.

Care & storage

Rinse and let it dry fully before storing, as with anything bamboo that has been in water. Keep it out of prolonged direct sun. Color and grain vary piece to piece because the bamboo does.
