Twelve oversized blocks for looking through. Four are colored windows, one is cut like a gemstone, one holds a mirror, and two have peepholes. Hold one up to a sunny window and a wash of color falls across the table.

The bases match every Bauspiel building set, so the blocks go straight into the towers a child is already making.

Age & safety

Safety

Ages 3+. The acrylic and mirror are set into the blocks, not loose. At 4 x 4 in, each block is far too large to fit the small parts cylinder. Tested to EN 71 and CE marked.

Care & storage

Wipe the wood with a damp cloth and dry right away. Wash the acrylic pieces with mild soapy water and dry them. Do not soak the wood or put anything in a dishwasher, and avoid disinfectants and hot water.

Bauspiel Bauspiel is Uwe Deckelmann and his daughter Hanna. 'Bauspiel' means 'building game' in German, and the line grows out of Friedrich Fröbel's kindergarten tradition of simple forms that ask nothing and allow everything. The wood is native European lime, alder and beech, with maple and cherry from sustainable cultivation, colored and oiled so the grain stays visible and the soul of the wood remains perceptible. The acrylic and gems come from Taiwan or China. Everything is quality-checked and shipped from Augsburg, Germany.
