The Bonsai Tree from Bumbu Toys is a miniature tree with real presence: a broad, hand-painted green canopy resting on a sturdy carved trunk. It stands as the centerpiece of a small-world scene, the landmark a story keeps returning to.

At eleven inches across, it is the largest of Bumbu's foliage pieces, big enough to anchor a whole landscape of animals, figures, and smaller plants gathered around it.

Materials & construction

The Bonsai Tree is carved from FSC-certified lime wood and finished with non-toxic, water-based paint. The canopy and trunk are a single sculpted form, with no small detachable parts.

Bumbu hand-carves and hand-paints its toys in Romania. Because each piece is worked by hand, the grain beneath the paint and the exact tone of the green vary from tree to tree. The wood keeps its natural texture, so light marks and tonal variation are normal and part of how it ages.

Care & storage

A soft, dry cloth handles most cleaning; for a stubborn spot, use a barely damp cloth and dry it straight away. Keep it out of standing water and away from radiators and sunny windowsills, and an occasional rub of beeswax revives the color if the wood looks dry.
