Load it, aim it, and let it fly. This little wooden catapult has a launcher that swings and a missile to send sailing, the kind of toy that turns a quiet afternoon into a siege. Set up the targets and start the assault.

It is simple, satisfying, and endlessly repeatable: load, launch, retrieve, repeat. A child works out angle and distance without a single instruction, just to knock the tower down one more time.

Why it lasts.

Drewart works in alder, a close-grained European hardwood, finished with natural linseed oil and left unvarnished. A toy that gets cranked and fired over and over has to be solid, and this one is built to take it. Each catapult is hand-shaped, so the grain and finish are a little different on every one, and it holds up to years of launches.

Who it's for

For the parent
At home it is the toy that gets a child up and moving, aiming, launching, and chasing down the missile to do it again. It works with the castles and blocks they already own, and it quietly teaches cause and effect, distance, and a little physics through pure play. Solid wood, no batteries, and built to last.
For the educator
In the classroom it is a hands-on prompt for cause and effect, force, and trajectory: children load, launch, measure how far it went, and adjust. It makes a natural addition to a block or construction area and a STEM-minded free-play station, and it stands up to repeated use.
For the gift-giver
It is the gift that gets a delighted reaction and immediate use. A real working catapult in solid wood, simple enough to figure out in seconds and fun enough to keep firing. It suits the child who loves knights and castles and the family that prefers wooden toys to plastic ones.

Ways to play.

Load the missile, set the angle, and launch. Build a tower or line up the targets, then knock them down and reset. Measure how far each shot flies, adjust the aim, and try to beat it. Defend the castle, lay siege to it, and run the battle as many times as it takes.

What families found.

Details

Materials & construction

The Drewart Catapult is made from alder, a close-grained European hardwood chosen for its strength and smooth finish. It is coated with natural linseed oil rather than varnish and left unvarnished, so it keeps its natural grain and can be re-oiled over the years.

Drewart has worked in wood for more than forty years, crafting its toys in Poland. Every piece is hand-shaped, so the grain, knots, and finish vary slightly from one to the next. Drewart toys are CE marked, tested to the European toy safety standard EN 71, and made from FSC-certified wood from responsibly managed forests.

Care & storage

Wipe clean with a dry or barely damp cloth, then dry it right away. Do not soak the wood or leave it sitting in water, since standing moisture can raise the grain or loosen a joint over time. If the wood ever looks dry or pale, rub in a little food-safe oil, such as linseed or a board oil, and buff off the excess. Store it somewhere dry and out of direct sun or a hot radiator, which can fade or crack natural wood. Small marks and a softening patina are normal on an oiled, unvarnished toy and are part of how it ages.
