Why it lasts.

Solid maple, carved and painted by hand. The bird in her hands is cut from the same block as the figure rather than added on, which is a harder way to make it and the reason it will still be there in ten years.

Maple, left untreated where the wood is bare and hand-painted where it is colored. Each piece is carved individually, so the face and the grain vary slightly from one to the next.

Wipe with a dry or barely damp cloth. Keep it out of standing water and away from direct heat.
