Two palms on one pale sand base, one taller than the other, trunks ringed the way real palm bark grows and fronds broad enough to reach out past the stand. It gives the ocean pieces a shoreline, so the corals and the fish have somewhere to be.

Why it lasts.

Solid linden, cut to shape and then sanded and painted by hand in a small family workshop. The two trunks are turned in rings so the bark reads as bark rather than as a pattern.

Ways to play.

It sets the horizon for a shore. Put the crabs and the corals in front of it and the sea has an edge, which is what small-world play needs before anything else can happen.

Materials & construction

Every Mako toy is cut to shape and then sanded and painted by hand in a small family workshop in Serbia. The wood is solid linden.

Care & storage

Wipe clean with a dry cloth, or one that is barely damp. Never soak or submerge it in water, and do not leave it wet. Keep it out of direct heat.
