If you have ever watched a leaf caught in a breeze, this is that moment carved in wood: a spoon shaped to capture the floating feeling, on air or on water, and put it in a child's hand.

It scoops, it stirs, it floats treasures across the water table, and it keeps the play connected to nature whether the kitchen is set up inside or out under the trees.

Why it lasts.

We carry Wild Mountain Child because these are real tools, not toy-shaped props: hand-carved, hand-sanded, and hand-polished from Doussie plantation timber by Vietnamese artisans in a traditional craft village, finished in food-grade oil, and designed in Australia by a mother who watched her own child's sensory play and built the tools it was missing. No two are the same, and that is the point.

Who it's for

For the parent
The pretty one that turns out to be the workhorse: scoop, stirrer, and bath-time boat all in one leaf.
For the educator
A nature-table natural: leaf form study, water play, and fine motor scooping in a single tool.
For the gift-giver
A small hand-carved beauty under twenty dollars that looks like it came from a gallery, not a toy aisle.

Ways to play.

Float it on the water table, scoop petals and sand, stir mud-kitchen soup, and serve leaf-plate lunches. Fills and pours beautifully with the Leaf Cup and Treasure Bowl.

Details

Materials & construction

Hand-carved, hand-sanded, and hand-polished from Doussie, a Vietnamese plantation timber, then finished with food-grade oil. Free of harmful chemicals, paints, and toxins, with a smooth, splinter-free finish. Grain and carving vary piece to piece; that variation is the handwork showing, not a defect.

Care & storage

Play in water is fine; just don't leave it submerged for days. Towel-dry after wet play, refresh the wood now and then with a rub of beeswax or vegetable oil, use only mild dish soap if needed, and never the dishwasher.
