This hand-felted lily pad has a water lily blooming at its edge, with pale pink petals around a golden center and fine veins fanning out across the leaf in wool. On its own it is a quiet, lovely thing to set down and look at. In a play scene it becomes water. Lay it in a meadow and there is a pond, and wherever it rests is where the frog sits, the fairy pauses, the bee comes down. Carry it to a new corner of the room and the water goes with it.

It is a small piece that anchors a whole scene, and it is beautiful enough to leave out between stories.

Why it lasts.

We carry this because it lasts in every sense. The wool is hand-felted to hold up to years of real play, and because it belongs to no single game, a child never outgrows it. It is the small, considered piece that quietly completes one scene after another, long after the louder toys have been put away.

Who it's for

For the parent
Big enough to anchor a small scene and small enough to tuck almost anywhere, it gives your child a base for whatever belongs near water, a fairy, a frog, a felt bee. Set it on a nature table or into a fairy garden and that corner becomes a pond. It lies flat to store and weighs almost nothing to move from room to room.
For the educator
A simple small-world surface that invites sorting, storytelling, and open-ended arrangement. Its shape reads clearly as water, so it anchors a scene without dictating the play that happens on it.
For the gift-giver
A small, affordable piece that fills out a fairy garden or small-world set someone already owns. It pairs naturally with a felt home or pod, or tucks into a basket of nature pieces, a considered little gift on its own.

Materials & construction

Each piece is made from 100% natural sheep's wool, sourced directly from Australia and New Zealand for its quality and purity. The wool is tested to the CE standard and colored with non-toxic, child-safe dyes. No synthetic binders, adhesives, plastics, or formaldehydes are used at any stage. The fibers are bound entirely through hand-felting: layers of wool pressed in warm, soapy water until the natural barbs lock permanently into a dense, resilient sheet. Every finished piece is hand-sewn without molds or machines.

Himalayan Felt Co. was founded by Lobsang and Miranda, who began traveling to Nepal to import felt and eventually opened their own dedicated factory there. Every piece is made by local Nepalese women, employed directly by the company: taught traditional felt-making skills, given a safe and family-friendly place to work, and paid a fair wage. Himalayan Felt Co. toys are CE marked and tested to the European toy safety standard, EN71. Because every piece is made by hand, slight variation in shape and color is natural and expected.

Ways to play

Place a frog or fairy figure on the pad and begin a pond story. Arrange several lily pads to build stepping stones across a floor or table scene. Pair with the Felt Lily Pod as a landing spot beneath the hanging home. Add Felt Bees, 3 pcs or a Bumbu Frog to bring the water garden to life.

Care & storage

Spot clean with a lightly damp cloth and a drop of mild soap. Do not submerge in water, machine wash, or wring: the hand-felted fibers will shrink and lose their shape permanently if saturated. Air dry flat, away from direct heat and sunlight. Store in a dry place. Natural dyes may mellow gently over years of use; this is a characteristic of the material, not a defect.
