Every habitat, puppet, and story set in Small World is hand-felted in Nepal, in azo-free dyes. The Papoose felt here comes from a WFTO Guaranteed Member workshop. Tara Treasures is Fair Trade Certified at brand level. Himalayan Felt Co. and Gus + Mabel hand-felt to the same specification; we make no fair-trade claim for either. The three-dimensional cave mats and puppets are made to order, and your quote states when each one arrives. The wait honors the craft.

What a Small World Holds

A child has a story long before she has the words.

Before a child writes a sentence, she stages one. She walks a felt fox into the mossy cave, flies a butterfly across the lily pond, lifts the Gruffalo into the wood and out again. Small World is the toolkit for that staging: hand-felted habitat mats that hold a scene, finger puppets sized for small hands, and circle-time story sets that turn a familiar rhyme into something a body can do. No screens. No instructions. Just landscape, character, and the long, generous space between them.

A note on who lives here

The nature table is the doorway.

Set out the felt mat and the small figures, and children start asking who lives here. The hand-felted fairy homes and their little folk are in Section 05, Imaginative Worlds. They move onto the nature table naturally, a fairy at the door of a felt house, a wooden fox stepping out from under the trees. One small world.
