Five 36 gauge triangular needles. Coarser than the general-purpose 38, which means they move a lot of wool quickly and leave a rougher surface behind.
This is the needle for the first twenty minutes of a project, when a loose handful of roving has to become a firm shape before any detail is possible. Children switch back to the 38 for finishing. One pack per room is usually enough; they do the fast work and then sit down.
