This is a first puzzle in the truest sense. The generous wooden pieces are cut for hands still learning to grasp, each with a finger hole in place of a peg, and beneath every piece waits a printed scene that answers the question a toddler is always asking: what is hiding under there? Fitting the pieces back is the puzzle. Lifting them out again is the game. Children play it both directions for a surprisingly long time.
